Parent's Day
Parent's Day
11/06/15
This year ILS hosted its first Parent's Day!  The PTF team provided drinks and snacks in the gym before chapel and cake following the 2nd grade Bible ceremony.  It was a great turnout with many classes having a parent present for every child!

Rosella Hemmen - Educator of the Year for the Rocky Mountain District
10/12/15
A well deserved congratulations to Rosella Hemmen! She received the Educator of the Year for the Rocky Mountain District at this year's conference. We have such an appreciation for her and all she does. Rosella consistently exemplifies grace in all of her dealings with students and parents. She brings her faith into daily lessons as she shares how God is important in her life and rejoices in hearing student stories about God working in their lives. She is constantly encouraging to her students and is dearly loved by them. She takes her students to a local retirement home, Good Samaritan, where the students are paired up with “Adopted Grandparents”. They visit monthly and have a variety of activities with their “grandparents” while there. Rosella has had many student teachers from Concordia over the years. She is a wonderful mentor; patient, encouraging, providing good guidance and allowing for student teachers to learn and grow under her guidance. We are so blessed to have her teaching our children! Congratulations Mrs. Hemmen!

8th Graders to Recieve CPR Training
8th Graders to Recieve CPR Training
08/28/15
This year PTF is funding a 6 hour course along with a book for the 8th Grade Students to learn CPR.  The 8th grade group helps PTF with childcare during our monthly meetings.  It was brought to our attention that they had an opportunity to get CPR training if we could fund it, which we gladly did!  This is a great opportunity for the 8th grade class as well as a great benefit to the PTF organization.  We love partnerships!

Teacher Thank Yous
Teacher Thank Yous
08/24/15
The PTF loves its ILS Teachers!  At the beginning of the school year the PTF provides funds for every teacher to purchase supplies for their classroom as a way of supporting the wonderal teachers that we have.  Here are a few thank yous the PTF has received from our Teachers:

"We are so very thankful for the funds for our classroom's new easel!  We all appreciate it and can not wait to use it in Science class :o)."  - Mrs. Brede (2nd Grade)

"Thank you so much for my new seat sacks for these larger chairs..... Several students noticed that their folders and spirals won't fit in their desks with the books we have in there for fourth grade, so these seat sacks are really necessary for us.  Thank you for your speedy response in approving these, too, so they could be ordered quickly.  I'm just tickled!  Stop by and see them on the first week of school."  -Mrs. Grimm (4th grade)

New Middle School Music Course - "Essential Musicianship"
New Middle School Music Course - "Essential Musicianship"
08/17/15
What's new to Middle School This Year?

A new elective is being offered this year on Mondays and Thursdays.  The name of the class is Essential Musicianship.  Participants will be using their singing voices in choral singing, learning and preparing repertoire (a collection of musical works) that spans the history of music.  All who participate will be encouraged to extend their voices to share in worship chapel services, and/or create learning materials that can be used in outreach in our community.  The learning that takes place will prepare students for high school music or humanities requirements.  First, and foremost, however, will be the attention given to confidence-building that comes from performance skills.  Mrs. Tremblay will begin this course with new curriculum that has been purchased by the PTF.
